Your door company, should have explained to whoever purchases these doors, that they have limitations on color, the darkest they may be painted is sandtone, if you paint them darker than the explained or recommended reflective light value, the overlays will delaminate or warp and come off. If you want a Darker color I recommend the Canyon Ridge 4 or 5 layer, hope this helps.

Within the first year, the composite overlays warped and Clopay provided two new doors but i had to pay installation. Within a few months, many if the overlays on the new doors changed color so there was a mismatch throughout. Clopay again replaced the doors but within a few months, the overlays again changed colors. Clopay said they would upgrade to Canyon Ridge and furnished six samples. When i asked to have their new substitute doors painted in my original color which I had my entire house trim painted to match, clopay ended all communication and would not take my call, return calls nor respond to emails. What was once a beautiful well built door has turned into an eyesore. The Customer Service Manager said she was going to call me back in 30 minutes, but I have not heard from her in 17 days since August 26.

I went the extra mile for n cost And decided on a coachman carriage style garage door for my small cottage. I decided not to put all the extra hardware on the exterior. The windows bring light into the garage and also look nice on the outside. It seems to be functioning wonderfully. Quiet and consistent on its performance. Ordered doors through Home Depot on 2/28/24 and delivered 4 weeks later. Came in great shape with excellent packaging and on rollers for easy loading into my trailer. All parts were included as ordered. Only issue was with the Spear bottom handle which required special installation. Vertical Handles worked fine. Overall, we are very pleased with our two doors.

Just installed the coachman style garage door yesterday. Biggest concern is that the top panel with glass windows is particle board and doesn’t have the same metal tongue and groove on the seam with the middle panel as the other 2 panels have with their seams. This top panel will be prone to rotting in that seam, as the water is not prevented from entering since it is missing that metal connector and also because it is particle board, and not steel or plastic like the other seams.

Our Coachman Garage Doors are 17 yrs of age and look almost brand new. We are very pleased with how they have held up. Our issue now is that I backed into the garbage can and drove it into one of our doors. Not so pretty now and we've been told that the whole door has to be replaced not just the damaged panels. But the doors are great. And my wife loves the look

I love the faux wood door with the composite overlays. It’s a perfect style for our house in the woods. The steel seems strong, thick insulation. I’m a mechanical engineer, and I’ve found a mechanical conflict that occurs where the double-track-low-headroom horizontal track meets the front torsion spring bracket. It can’t be assembled as instructed. Further, even after we did some rearranging to make it work, the thick door (almost 3” with the composite trim on the front) hit the bottom of the spring bracket at the top. It cut a 1/4” notch into the top of the soft composite after opening it just a couple times. Again we have devised a work-around, but it’s not ideal. I think your original designs worked fine, but for the case when all 3 of these options are chosen (low headroom, front torsion spring, and extra thick door), your engineers need to make some changes.

After waiting for many months for my expensive new door, it sags, is bent/bowed, doesn’t shut properly, leaks cold air, and has resulted in significantly less vertical clearance, despite initial assurances to the contrary. The installation instructions says it should have a strut (brace) on each of the four panels, but it only came with two. The installer tells me they will fix the issues. They will order one new panel and more struts, to try to fix the sagging and bending. I’m not sure why only one panel will be replaced when they are all bent. Of course it will be many months before the new panel can be obtained. The design is attractive but the construction quality of both the door and installation is poor. I’m very disappointed. If and when these issues are addressed I will update this review.

The upgraded spring package definitely cleans up the installation, no more cables and springs hanging along the rails. The slot it goes in is .364" wide. That leaves over an eighth inch of play for the mullion to move back and forth at the bottom. They are very loose; it would have been easy to engineer a better fit.

This garage door looks good for about one day. I asked if we could fix one of the panels and was told we have to replace the entire garage door, they did not tell us this up front. I am not spending several thousands to replace the entire thing again, just stupid and a way for them to make money. All the composite rails that make the garage door look so nice are delaminating off the steel underneath. It is so bad that it is starting to catch when the garage door rolls up. We live in pacific nw and have an east facing garage, ABSOLUTELY NO reason it should be warping. Do not buy, buyers beware. We were given specific guidelines on how to paint and what paint to use and we followed ALL of the instructions. Everything about this door is horrid. The only plus is it has insulated my garage more than my old wood one. I am sooo far beyond disappointed and sooo upset I spent so much money on this door. It is aweful all the way around. This garage door looks good for about one day. I asked if we could fix one of the panels and was told we have to replace the entire garage door, they did not tell us this up front. I am not spending several thousands to replace the entire thing again, just stupid and a way for them to make money. All the composite rails that make the garage door look so nice are delaminating off the steel underneath. It is so bad that it is starting to catch when the garage door rolls up. I love the way the doors compliment the rest of the garage. The carriage house look with in the craftsman style match the french doors on the side of the garage perfectly. Leaps and bounds over a standard garage door. Got the Clopay Gold Bar hardware upgrade and warranty. When combined with the LiftMaster 8500W this system is QUIET! It's the quietest garage door I have ever heard. The build quality of the hardware is excellent.

Replaced 20 year old doors. Had them painted at the factory to match the BM Historical Color of the house. Great quality, real quiet openers and really adds to our houses curb appeal. The additional layer of windows on the top pane really brighten up the garage. The additional RF factor will help us in the winter keeping the garage alot warmer than years past.

I am building an over the garage storage access door in the upcoming few days with an arch and plan on using the same colors of bronze casing with matching lower door colors. I want to thank the tech department for clarifying the radius so this came out so nicely. This is on a 18' x 30' room in truss 12/12 pitched building I designed. Coachman 12' x 8' garage door. I hope it holds up as nicely as it looks!

Timeframe was met and delivery was on time. Contractor says the doors were very easy to install. They work like a charm and would highly recommend these doors.

We had this door installed a few months ago. The door got locked into place and the release had to be pulled. It came crashing down and the bottom panel was fractured. We wen to order a new panel and were informed that the entire door has to be replaced. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of- what a waste of money! DO NOT BUY THIS! We regret not doing further research.

We received our garage door yesterday and couldn't be happier! Our garage door was original to our home (1965) so it certainly lived a long life. A few weeks ago it broke and came off the track. Because it was solid wood, it was so heavy that we were unable to open or close the door manually. So I haven't had my car in two weeks! The new door is great! I had Clopay coachman doors installed 10 years ago. They are metal panels with then hollow pure PVC overlays. Due to the expansion and contraction of a southern exposure the ends of the overlays start to pull away from the doors at the panel joints when the overlays expand. Clopay 5 years ago honored their warranty and provided new doors, still of the same solid PVC overlay construction. Sure enough 5 years later they started to delaminate (the overlays pulling away). I just installed (9/2019) new Clopay Coachman doors, this time one foot taller as I increased the height of the openings. No other doors look as good so I still went with Clopay coachman series. While painting the doors with a vinyl safe paint (essentially no black pigment in the formula) I see the overlays are now an actual composite material, not pure PVC. You can see this new type of overlay in the removable grills too when you pull it off. With the doors in the sun, though the metal panel is warm the overlays stay cool to the touch, which they never did before, so I would believe the expansion and delamination of the overlays is a thing of the past. I called around before purchasing and sure enough installers all said they never see anymore delamination problems.

Our Coachman doors have performed well for 8 years, except the plastic grilles occasionally fall from the windows and break. Now, I'm told the grilles have been discontinued and the style is no longer available for replacement. I now have a garage door that looks incomplete

My old door was drab and needed an update. My new Clopay door is beautiful. The design is exciting, updated and bright. The moment it was installed I went from boring and ordinary to attractive and appealing. The door failed within in the first year. I am the sorry owner of a pathetic Clopay garage door that is warping like no body's business. Heed this advice or be very sorry like me. The paint used was supposed to be the right paint per the HOA is what I have been told. My neighbor's unpainted Clopay door is perfectly fine. Again, do not paint the doors a dark color!!!!!!

The adhesive holding on the cladding failed after less than 2 years. Unless you paint your doors white or close to white Clopay will not warranty your doors. I like the look of the doors but the cladding is about to fall off meaning after 5 years of service they need replacing

I get many compliments regarding my doors. They are unique to my neighborhood. I enjoy my compliments. I have a north facing door that gets limited sunlight. I have noticed over time that mold builds on my overlays. It can be very difficult to remove this mold.

I purchased the door with multiple upgrades and it is looks nice and is insulated and does its job. The process for ordering, receiving and installing the door was trying to say the least. The contractor that HD uses in my area is Advanced Overhead Door out of Kennewick, WA. They are terrible to work with and for that reason I would not purchase another door. I actually need another but have opted to make it a Carport to avoid the entire process. The installers took with them all instructions and warranty information so I can't comment on the warranty.

I wanted the grey which would have matched perfectly as it is my trim color which is Behr paint as well. Also, the installers should learn the product better, because the pre-installer had me notch out my foundation for no reason.

I installed a Coachman Series garage door in 2011 in the detached garage behind my 1913 Craftsman house. The installers, Garage Doors 4 Less, did a great job. They rebuilt aged the door frame to handle both the door and the opener, and they took away the old door. The door was painted in an orangy color to match the house trim and it really looked great. Fast forward to 2018. While checking on the operation of the emergency garage door lock, I noticed some very obvious warping and delamination of the plastic panels of the door. While the operation of the door is not affected (so far), the appearance is unattractive. Unfortunately, the warranty for this type of damage is only 5 years, and the installer does not provide any repair service. So I get to watch the door get worse and worse until I have to get a replacement. While I probably won't have to spend the full $3000 I did when I put this door in, I'm sure it will cost 2/3 of that. Not quite what I expected. Word of warning: if you paint the door with a darker color than the standard tan, and if the door is subject to afternoon sun like mine, you can expect the panels to warp. Another word of warning: if you need to get another key for your emergency lock, you may find the one supplied is very hard to find. I'm told it is a non-standard Chinese product. Of course this lock may have been provided by the installer and not Clopay. The installer offered to replace the lock for $165. I found an easily installed replacement on Amazon for $15.

Ed worked with Clopay and our contractor, and even with a top row of glass, difference is almost undistinguishable. Doors are sturdy, well finished, and enhance our tropical plantation architecture. However, the doors’ seeded glass were markedly different. That day, Ed’s first call to Clopay got us a new set of glass. The Liftmasters are VERY quiet w/helpful features. Although the framing isn’t finished, my picky husband keeps coming in the door saying, “Love those doors; those doors just make me happy. It’s such a nice touch.” While the textural difference between the steel panels and the overlay are noticeable close up, the difference in weight and cost compared to wood makes Coachman a great buy.

On another note we had a very bad hail storm (baseball size hail) this spring that damaged the majority of the exterior of our home and outbuilding including our garage doors. The appearance is fantastic and they seal out the cold weather, critters, insects (such as the dreaded stink bugs) and drafts. We did a total redo of the exterior of our house (windows and siding and concrete driveway). The remodel was not complete until we put in our Coachman door. Since then we have have had more people stop and tell us how good our house now looks, most of them comment on the garage door and how it is what catches their eye. Very pleased with the result!
